The youngest member of the north-side’s iconic Umberto Group, our knowledge comes from over a decade of feeding Thornbury locals and foodies who come from far and wide.

We prepare everything by hand in our High Street kitchen, using only the freshest ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. For us, ready made meals are more than just a way to save time; they’re a commitment to quality without compromise.

Taste your way through a diverse selection.

There’s something for everyone on our shelves; from the foodies to even the fussiest kids. We’ve got staples like lasagna, meatballs in sugo, and the coveted tiramisu from Umberto — now available for you to eat at home whenever you like. Bolognese, pesto, and cacio e pepe paste are regular bestsellers in the homemade pasta sauce category.

We also like to reflect what’s in season (and what’s on Melbourne’s weather forecast). In winter, we add comforting soups and gluten-free apple crumble to the mix. For Easter, we ran a limited seafood pasta — while Christmas was roast pork and Panettone. Eggplant parmigiana and baked gnocchi are some of our other rotating favourites. Our favourite of all? It just might be the coveted Limoncello Tiramisú.

It’s also important to us that we cater to all dietary requirements. We want everyone to be able to enjoy delicious and authentic Italian food, from vegan and vegetarian to gluten free and dairy free.

To us, provenance is paramount. Supporting local artisans and producers around Australia is a big part of what we do here at Sandro. We live on some of the best land in the world for growing quality food. All of the cheese, meat, vegetables and other produce used in our meals is sourced with care directly from the finest growers, producers, and marketeers in the country — and we think they’re the best in the world.

Extra care goes into keeping our recipes nutritious, too. Of course, we love an indulgence — especially in the dessert department — but we stick to simple ingredient lists spotlighting plenty of whole foods and staying away from preservatives. Whether its using Spud Sisters potatoes for our gnocchi or fresh tomatoes to make the sugo for our meatballs, everything has a source that can be easily traced.

Easy to prepare.

Whether bought to keep frozen or eat that same night, all of our meals are ready to simply heat and serve. The idea is that we do the hard work cooking them from scratch, and all you have to do is finish it off at home. Microwaved, baked, or warmed on the stove; just choose what’s easiest. Every meal is curated by our chefs to stand alone, but feel free to get more hands-on and dream up some inventive ways to enjoy them (meatball sub, anyone?).

Catering for a crowd has never been easier. Our selection can mixed and matched to feed parties of all sizes. We make them in quantities that are easy to combine or buy in bulk depending on how many people are eating at your table.
